Mortal Kombat looks set to write it's final chapter of a 14-year long story in October with the game Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
The game will feature every single character to fight in the Mortal Kombat games apart from (Ultimate) Mortal Kombat 3/Mortal Kombat Trilogy Sub-Boss, Motaro (The Centaur).
Early indications show that the game will be one last free-for-all for the Ultimate, Undisputed Mortal Kombat Champion, leaving everyone else in the morgue.
However, don't worry Mortal Kombat fans, the franchise may continue, but with a fresh start, preserving the "Essential" Mortal Kombat characters (Sub-Zero and Scorpion being the two most likely).
Armageddon will have the following features:

Create-a-Fighter
Create-a-Fatality
Konquest Mode similar to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
Krypt mode replaced by "The Vault"
8-player Online game
